Meet The Sea Sense Staff!

Director: Lindsey West

Lindsey has worked at Sea Sense for seven years and is responsible for the overall management of the organisation including designing programme activities, managing project staff and finances, liaising with donors, conducting fundraising campaigns and publicizing Sea Sense work. Lindsey is a member of the IUCN Marine Turtle Specialist Group and the Vice Chair of the Western Indian Ocean Marine Turtle Task Force.

Founder: Catharine Joynson-Hicks

A passionate environmentalist, Catharine founded Sea Sense in 2001 after spending ten years developing her knowledge and experience within diverse and challenging conservation and research roles. Catharine now acts in an advisory capacity and is a member of the Sea Sense Board.

Field Officer: Omari Abdallah

Omari has worked for Sea Sense since the very beginning in 2001. He lives and works in Mafia Island and plays a critical role in all of our community conservation programmes. He has an infinite supply of knowledge and wisdom and his tireless efforts have had a real impact on coastal communities in Tanzania.

Finance Officer: Rehema Mariki

Rehema has a bachelors degree in Business Accounting and Finance and she is a Certified Public Accountant. Her expertise in financial management enables Sea Sense to meet financial obligations to project donors and partners and she provides invaluable office support to the Sea Sense team.
